It's the relatively long duration (over 4hrs) of needed physical and mental sharpness that requires the body and brain to be operating optimally. If you add the psychological and weather factors to the demands of the game then your energy needs must be efficient and effective. Proper foods and liquids provide the fuel for this optimum performance. This means nutrition is as valuable to your game as a good short game, properly fitted clubs or good flexibility. The goal of proper nutrition is a balanced blood sugar or glucose levels. The brain is one of the largest consumers of glucose and it needs it in order to function properly. Poor supply causes sluggishness, poor concentration, slow reaction and altered communication with the body. Hence, poor golf performance.
Confidence - A Must For Great GolfBeing a confident golfer is one of the most important aspects of becoming a great golfer. You must believe in yourself 100% that you can execute the shot that you are about to play.If there is any indecision, doubt or worry you will not execute the shot with 100% effectiveness. The mind and body will not carry out an effective shot if you do not have that inner confidence to succeed and the belief that you can do it. The following info and ideas will give you some insight and thoughts about confidence and why it is so important for your game. UNCONDITIONAL CONFIDENCE-
No-Hinge and Hinge & HoldThere will be two main chipping techniques that will be learned at TSGI - 1. No Hinge and 2. Hinge and Hold. Mastering these chipping techniques will definately shave strokes off your score and make you very proficient at executing all chip shots.Good chipping will always keep scores down. Every great player on any professional tour is a great chipper of the golf ball. If you want to take your game to a higher level and shoot consistent low scores you must become a consistently good chipper of the golf ball. The two key components to both chipping techniques are 1. Downward angle of attack at impact and 2. Hands and shaft leaning forward in front of the golf ball. Everything we do in a chip shot, technique wise is to arrive at these two points at impact. NO HINGE- The No-Hinge chipping technique is a one lever motion that is controlled primarily by the shoulders and arms. There is no wrist motion with this chip shot; the wrists are inactive and passive. This really is a putting stroke without a putter. Your lower body will remain quiet just like a putt and the stroke will be a rocking motion of the shoulders and arms working back and thru together. The No-Hinge chipping method is not a powerful shot. Use it for low, running chips within about 30yds of the green.
